Gayane Shahnazaryan, Deputy Director of the “Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center” SNCO of the Ministry of Environment of the RA, was elected the Chair of the UNECE Working Group on Environmental Monitoring and Assessment for a two-year term.
Ms. Shahnazaryan had been a member of the UNECE Working Group on Environmental Monitoring and Assessment since 2018. The election of the Chair and Co-Chairs took place on April 10, 2025, during the 27th session of the Working Group.
The Ministry of Environment of the RA nominated Gayane Shahnazaryan for the position of Chair, and following the election, she was elected the Chair of the UNECE Working Group on Environmental Monitoring and Assessment for a two-year term.
The UNECE Working Group on Environmental Monitoring and Assessment aims to enable informed environmental decision-making through regular environmental monitoring, assessment and reporting to support sustainable development and the transition to a green and circular economy within the UNECE region.
