Aram Meymaryan, Deputy Minister of Environment of the RA, participated in the thematic event entitled “Enhancing the Role of Knowledge Holders in CBD: Pioneering Capacity-Building Initiatives Across the World,” held in Panama.
In his speech, the Deputy Minister underscored the importance of a balanced and systematic approach to capacity development, highlighting the need to enhance scientific-technical, political-legal, traditional, and local knowledge, as well as institutional and negotiation capacities, to ensure the effective implementation of the objectives of the Convention on Biological Diversity.
Deputy Minister Aram Meymaryan presented Armenia’s engagement in the capacity-building programs implemented by the UN Convention on Biological Diversity and its international partners, emphasizing that these initiatives enhance the country’s capacity for effective participation in national planning, policy formulation, and international negotiations.
He noted that Armenia stands ready to continue and expand its involvement in the initiatives carried out under the framework of the Convention, particularly in the context of hosting the upcoming COP17 in Armenia.
