Aram Meymaryan, Deputy Minister of Environment of the RA, today received George Akhalkatsi, Head of EBRD Yerevan Resident Office. Heads of relevant departments of the Ministry and a representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also attended the meeting.
During the discussion, the Deputy Minister presented the ongoing preparatory work for the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17). He also introduced the official logo and slogan of COP17, which were first unveiled on December 9 during the 7th session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-7).
The parties discussed potential avenues for EBRD engagement in the preparatory and organizational processes for COP17, including opportunities for knowledge exchange and technical cooperation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their readiness to strengthen cooperation, emphasizing that COP17 represents a unique opportunity for Armenia and that its successful organization requires active participation from international partners and close collaborative efforts.
