The results of the three-year joint Armenian-German research on Lake Sevan have been summarized

In the RA National Academy of Sciences, a concluding meeting titled "Results of the Armenian-German joint three-year research on Lake Sevan" was held.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Environment Aram Meymaryan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Armenia Victor Richter, Director of the "Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center" SNCO Levon Azizyan, Head of Lake Research Department of Hemholtz Center for Environmental Research of Germany Karsten Rinke, EU4Sevan Program team leader Christian Henshel, chairman of the expert commission for the protection of Lake Sevan Bardukh Gabrielyan, representatives from "Sevan" National Park, "Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center" from SNOC, RA National Academy of Sciences.
  During the meeting, "SEVAMOD2. Creation of science-based management tools for Lake Sevan" project results.
The project was financed by the Federal Ministry of Education and Science of Germany and implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, the Center for Ecologanospheric Research of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, the Scientific Center of Zoology and Hydroecology of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, and the Institute of Geological Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia.
The importance of the program in the decision-making process of the RA government was emphasized, from the point of view of decisions being based on scientific research.
In his speech, Deputy Minister Aram Meymaryan referred to the results of the project and their importance in the context of measures aimed at the restoration and protection of the Lake Sevan ecosystem.
"Based on the obtained results, it will be possible to understand the hydrodynamic features of Lake Sevan, the assessment of river inflow and other elements of the water balance under different scenarios of climate change will allow us to have an idea of the future dynamic reserves and water quality of the lake, and finally, based on the results of ongoing research, it will be possible to develop a plan for Lake Sevan a scientific management concept", Aram Meymaryan noted.
During the workshop, researchers from the scientific centers of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, the Lake Research Department of the Hemholtz Center, the representatives of the "Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center" SNCO and the "Environmental Protection of Lake Sevan" (EU4Sevan) program presented reports, presenting the latest findings on the chemical composition of Lake Sevan, Sevan characterization of phytoplankton in the lake, current state of zooplankton, water quality monitoring mechanisms of Lake Sevan, modeling of Lake Sevan, hydrochemical and isotopic analyzes of the lake, results of the EU4Sevan project.
