During the 20th session of the UN Forum on Forests (UNFF 20) held in New York, Aram Meymaryan, Deputy Minister of Environment of the RA, delivered a speech on behalf of the Republic of Armenia.
In his speech, Aram Meymaryan emphasized the critical role of forests as a fundamental component of climate stability, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development. He highlighted that forests in Armenia hold not only ecological value but also cultural and socio-economic significance. Based on this, the government has made the improvement of forest management a key priority in recent years
The Deputy Minister outlined the large-scale reforms being implemented in Armenia, including the adoption of forest management plans for 14 forest enterprises, the modernization of afforestation and restoration procedures, and the establishment of new standards and indicators for sustainable forest management.
