Hambardzum Matevosyan, Minister of Environment of the RA, received H.E. Ms. Ms. Alexandra Cole, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Armenia
At the beginning of the meeting, the parties touched upon a number of environmental issues that have recently been in the spotlight, emphasizing the importance of forest fire prevention, enhancing rapid response systems, and reducing air pollution. They also discussed opportunities for cooperation in the field of environmental monitoring, particularly in strengthening atmospheric air quality control capacities.
The upcoming COP17 of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity was also on the meeting agenda. Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan briefed the Ambassador on the organizational process, emphasizing that Armenia is preparing to host a conference that fosters inclusive and multilateral cooperation.
The parties also discussed the participation of Armenian delegations in major upcoming international environmental events, highlighting the importance of Armenia’s active engagement on global platforms.
They reaffirmed Armenia’s readiness to advance joint programmes in the areas of environmental policy and sustainable development.
