An advisory seminar of the program "conducting the necessary analysis and development of a management plan for the Sevan National Park" was held

On November 23, the second extended consultative seminar of the program "conducting the necessary analysis and development of the management plan for the Sevan National Park" was held.
The seminar was attended by Deputy Minister of the Environment of the Republic of Armenia Aram Meimaryan, Head of the Cooperation Department of the EU Delegation to Armenia Frank Hess, Head of the EU Program Zuzana Sorotsinova, Deputy Permanent Representative of UNDP in Armenia Konstantin Sokulsky, Head of the Climate, Environment, Sustainability Department of UNDP Hovhannes Ghazaryan, representatives of the Sevan National Park, Forestry The Committee of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, the Water Committee of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Armenia, the Cadastre Committee, the Gegharkunik Regional Administration, the enlarged communities of Sevan, Martuni, Gavar, Chambarak, Vardenis, 49 representatives of international and local environmental structures.
During the seminar, the current state of the operation "carrying out the necessary analysis and development of the management plan for the Sevan National Park", as well as the structure of the composite programs of the management plan and the methodology for their development, the methodological foundations of zoning and boundary clarification were presented. The presentations were followed by a plenary discussion, summing up the results of the seminar and agreeing on the next steps ahead of the summing up of the work.
The participants attached great importance to a joint approach to the implementation of works, innovations introduced, as well as a comprehensive consideration of the existing challenges of national park management and the proposal of realistic and practical solutions.
In order to facilitate further approval of the Sevan National Park Management Plan, the program also contributes to the implementation of the strategic environmental assessment of the management plan.
The development of the management plan for the delegation of the Ministry of the Environment is part of the UNDP program "Environmental Protection of Lake Sevan" (EU4Sevan) and is carried out within the framework of the program "A. Takhtajyan Institute of Botany" SNCO (Armenia), LLC Soluton (Armenia), DHP Conservation Ltd. (Czech Republic), NaravaNarave d.o.o (Slovenia) by a consortium.
The project "Environmental Protection of Lake Sevan" (EU4Sevan) is jointly funded by the European Union and the Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development of the Federal Republic of Germany (OECD). It is part of the OECD-funded German program "ECOServe". The program is implemented by the German Society for International Cooperation (GMC) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
