By the decree of the Government of the Republic of Armenia, on February 4 2021, Acting Director of "Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center" SNCO Levon Azizyan was appointed Permanent Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the World Meteorological Organization.
The World Meteorological Organization is a specialized agency of the United Nations, which deals with the problems concerning weather, climate, water and the environment.
187 states are members of the Organization, and Armenia has become a member of the WMO since October 16 1992.
Armenia became a member of two technical commissions of the WMO in 2020:
The Commission for Observation, Infrastructure and Information Systems (Infrastructure Commission)
The Commission for Weather, Climate, Water and Related Environmental Services and Applications (Services Commission)
