The official closing event of the "EU for Climate" regional project and the meeting of the steering committee took place

The official closing event and the meeting of the steering committee of the "EU for Climate" regional project implemented by the European Union and the United Nations Development Program was held in Brussels.
Nona Budoyan, Head of the Climate Policy Department of the Ministry of Environment, and Ani Khachaturyan, Chief Specialist of the International Cooperation Department, participated in the closing event and the steering committee meeting.
The Armenian delegation also included Diana Harutyunyan, coordinator of the climate change programs of the Armenia office of the United Nations Development Program, Artak Baghdasaryan, the head of the Armenian component of the "EU Climate" regional program, and the vice-president of the "EcoLur" information NGO, the editor-in-chief of the "EcoLur" information NGO.   The purpose of the "EU for Climate" program was/is to support the 6 countries of the Eastern Partnership (Republic of Armenia, Republic of Azerbaijan, Republic of Belarus, Georgia, Republic of Moldova and Ukraine) to implement their commitments under the Paris Agreement and to improve climate policy and legislation.
The project was launched in 2019, with a budget of 8.8 million euros.
The purpose of the event was to summarize the main achievements of the program and the lessons learned during the period 2019-2023.
Head of Climate Policy Department Nona Budoyan presented the framework of Armenia's climate policy, the main achievements, including the project of the long-term development strategy with low greenhouse gas emissions.
Diana Harutyunyan, coordinator of the climate change programs of the Armenia office of the United Nations Development Program, presented the legal regulations of the national legislation of the climate agenda within the framework of the program, the harmonization with the EU legislation.
Artak Baghdasaryan, head of the Armenian component of the project, presented the public events carried out under the project.
Ani Khachaturyan, the chief specialist of the international cooperation department, made a speech of gratitude for the support provided in order to strengthen the legal and institutional capacities for the formation and implementation of the climate agenda within the framework of the project.
