The International Biodiversity Day was marked by the release of 87,300 of Summer subspecies of Sevan trout into Lake Sevan.
The celebration of the International Day of Biodiversity pursues a number of important goals, such as increasing the level of public awareness of biodiversity conservation and threats to it, and adopting innovative decisions that will mitigate the risk of losses.
Within the framework of the Biodiversity Restoration Council, at the initiative of the Ministry of Environment, 87,300 of Summer subspecies of Sevan Trout were released into Lake Sevan from the small fish factory located in Karchaghbyur community of "Sevan Trout" CJSC.
Minister Hakob Simidyan, Governor of Gegharkunik Prvince Karen Sargsyan, representatives from the Ministry of Environment and "Sevan" National Park participated in the environmental event.
The release of small fish is periodic. The purpose of all this is to restore the fish resources of Sevan trout, an important component of the integrity of the biodiversity of Lake Sevan, and thereby contribute to the restoration of the damaged ecosystem of the lake.
