Bees are key actors  in the pollination process

Since, they and other pollinators, such as butterflies, face a greater threat due to human activities. The use of pesticides, land use change, intensive agricultural management and climate change are the main threats to bee species diversity and viability. Armenian yellow bee and its subtype - the Caucasian honey bees are widespread in Armenia. The pure population has been preserved, especially in Meghri. Yerevan “Nektar” state beekeeping research enterprise is engaged in preservation and breeding of  Armenian yellow bees at the base of Meghri.
