The policy principals applicable at promoting the legislation of participatory and accountability in water resource management were considered

On March 29 RA Deputy Minister of Nature Protection Khachik Hakobyan took part in the workshop on ''Strategy  for legislation improvement directed to participatory and accountability in sustainable water resource management and presentation of the  roadmap'' within the scope of  ''Participatory Utilization and Resource Efficiency of Water Activity'' (PURE Water).     The goal of the project is to contribute to the responsible management and use of water resources in Ararat Valley through public awareness raising and increased citizen participation, thereby fostering behavioral change to reduce the rate of groundwater extraction.   The workshop was attended by USAID/Armenia Mission Director Deborah Grieser, Head of Water Resource Management Agency of the RA Ministry of Nature Protection V. Davtyan, Deputy Chairman of the RA State Committee on Water Economy V. Narimanyan, A. Varosyan, Project Manager of ''Participatory Utilization and Resource Efficiency of  Water Activity'' (PURE Water), Project's Legal Component Manager H. Stepanyan, the experts of Environmental Law Resource Centre of YSU, that briefly presented the activities of the working group and made speeches.    In turn, RA Deputy Minister of Nature Protection Khachik Hakobyan illustrated the outputs of the activities accomplished in 2017 towards the research concerning the actual situation of deep wells of fish breeding entrepreneurship in Ararat valley: water metering,  bringing wells to valve regimes and sealing. The Deputy Minister addressed the formation of a public review mechanism to ensure the participatory management of the basins. At the workshop, a discussion was held over encouraging transparency in regulatory gaps of water use sphere as well as decision-making processes of water management sector.
