On November 27, under the control of the committee formed by the order of the RA Minister of Nature Protection gegharkuni and summer trout were released to River Dzknget at Lake Sevan out of turn for the first time within the frames of “Restoration of Sevan trout supply and pisciculture development” foundation. It was intended to release 366 667 small fish: 166 667 gegharkuni and200 000 summer trout. The fish was acquired with 2015 State budget means by the amount mentioned in the contract signed between Scientific Research Institute of Environment and Natural Resources LLC and Ministry of Nature Protection (“Fish reserve completion system” program, July 14, 2015). However, 371 000 small fish was released to Lake Sevan. The release works were monitored by RA Minister of Nature Protection, Aramayis Grigoryan, the Governor of RA Gegharkunik region, Rafik Grigoryan, the executive director of “Restoration of Sevan trout supply and pisciculture development” foundation, Arshak Aghajanyan and the representatives of other organizations and nearby communities as well as residents of the communities. RA Minister of Nature Protection, Aramayis Grigoryan emphasizing the significance of the event, stated: “Today we released 371000 small fish although it was envisaged to release 366 700. “Restoration of Sevan trout supply and pisciculture development” foundation released 238 000small fish during the months of June and July, which makes approximately 610 000 small fish this year. The results of monitoring realized by the RA National Academy of Sciences highlight the fact that the fish reserve is increasing which is more encouraging. However, we have a problem: poaching, especially during the spawning period and we must joint our efforts to reach the goal. If we manage to make releases a few more years in the near future, it will allow us to speak clearly about the industrial fish supply in Lake Sevan and solve the problem of industrial fish hunting. The Minister of Nature Protection has once again addressed the public to stay away from poaching during the period of ban on fishing in Lake Sevan confirmed by the Ministry of Nature Protection, which corresponds to the fish spawning period in order to make it possible to later speak about industrial hunting. I call for avoiding poaching so that there will be natural reproduction, thus we will have the desired amount of fish and the perspective of industrious fishing. If we manage to prevent illegal fishing, we will be able to speak about the perspective of industrious fishing”. The Governor of RA Gegharkunik region, Rafik Grigoryan, stated that all the necessary activities are implemented: the State Environmental Inspectorate of the RA Ministry of Nature Protection, “Sevan national park” SNCO and the Police explain the residents the importance of restraining from fishing and crawfishing. By the order of the RA Minister of Nature Protection, the State Environmental Inspectorate of the RA Ministry of Nature Protection and “Sevan national park” SNCO were charged to organize a twenty-four-hour duty for 3 days in the release territory.
