Minister of Nature Protection Aramayis Grigoryan received the delegation of Armenia Tree Project /ATP/ program led by Executive Director Jeanmarie Papelian. Appreciating the environmental activities conducted in Armenia by the program; the Minister greeted the guests and expressed willingness for cooperation: “The objective of both parties is sustainable development and increase of forest areas as well as the raise of level of ecological education and awareness within the scope of population, thus I am sure we are capable of implementing more effectively jointly”. Executive Director Jeanmarie Papelian thanking for the reception and willingness stated the fact that 20year long activities have been fruitful, approximately 5million trees were planted within the territory. Meanwhile, she hoped that the collaboration will provide bases for more projects. The parties discussed perspectives of future partnership, considered some areas for tree planting. At the meeting they reflected upon the necessity to undertake measures to reduce tree cutting process and collection and recycling of residues. Minister Aramayis Grigoryan noted that due to the clanging works at Lake Sevan, the residues were assembled and stored in “Sevan” National Park and in the future they plan to set recycling station where the residues will be turned to alternative fuel, thus it will significantly assist the solution of fuel problem of the residents. Ministry expressed their will to participate in the recycling of residues. Additionally, joint ecoeducational training and experience exchange perspectives were considered.
