RA Minister of Nature Protection Aramayis Grigoryan received newly appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan Mr. Eiji Taguchi. Congratulating the Ambassador on his diplomatic mission in our country and thanking for the visit, Aramayis Grigoryan hoped that there will be partnership in the environmental sector. Ambassador Taguchi expressed special admiration for magnificent and remarkable nature and rich biodiversity in Armenia and attached significance to the collaboration in the sphere and experience exchange. Ambassadorwas interested in the ratification of Minamata Convention on Mercury in Armenia. In answer Minister Aramayis Grigoryan stated, that after signing the Convention in 2013the RA Ministry of Nature Protection implements activities directed to finding products containing mercury and waste registration, research of environmental pollution with mercury and analyses of legal sphere which will result in the ratification. Summarizing Minister Aramayis Grigoryan noted that he appreciates the experience of Japan in neutralizing dangerous wastes and polluted areas and expects cooperation in experience exchange and introduction of technologies.
