On June 23, under the control of the committee formed by the order of the RA Minister of Nature protection 43 thousand gegharkuni and summer trout weighing up to 30 grams were released to Lake Sevan out of turn for the first time within the frames of “Restoration of Sevan trout supply and pisciculture development” foundation/40 thousand and the process of free small fish provision by the “EMI Food” LLC/3 thousand, which carries out net-cage pilot works within the project of restoring trout supply in Lake Sevan. The release works were monitored by RA Minister of Nature Protection, Aramayis Grigoryan, Chief Adviser to RA President, Aram Gharibyan, the Governor of RA Gegharkunik region, Rafik Grigoryan, the executive director of “Restoration of Sevan trout supply and pisciculture development” foundation, Arshak Aghajanyan and the representatives of other organizations and nearby communities. RA Minister of Nature Protection, Aramayis Grigoryan emphasizing the significance of the event, stated: “As we are implementing a very important program, we found it expedient with “Restoration of Sevan trout supply and pisciculture development” foundation and made a major decision to start the program of increasing fish supply earlier up to the construction of the factory by “Sevan Trout” CJSC. If we manage to make releases a few more years in the near future, it will allow us to speak clearly about the industrial fish supply in Lake Sevan and solve the problem of industrial fish hunting. Also, “Restoration of Sevan trout supply and pisciculture development” foundation found it expedient to release 200-300 thousand small fish to Lake Sevan this year as well. The Minister of Nature Protection has once again addressed the public to stay away from poaching during the period of ban on fishing in Lake Sevan confirmed by the Ministry of Nature Protection, which corresponds to the fish spawning period in order to make it possible to later speak about industrial hunting. The Governor of RA Gegharkunik region, Rafik Grigoryan, speaking about the social component of the program, informed that it will allow creating nearly 5 thousand workplaces in the region. The executive director of “Restoration of Sevan trout supply and pisciculture development” foundation, Arshak Aghajanyan informed that not only fish release but other environmental programs as well will be implemented. Particularly, cleaning works of rivers will be carried out, so that the fish can naturally spawn and reproduce. In Sevan cleaning stations will be built as well. By the order of the RA Minister of Nature Protection, the State Environmental Inspectorate of the RA Ministry of Nature Protection and “Sevan national park” SNCO were charged to organize a twenty-four-hour duty for 3 days in the release territory.
