RA Minister of Nature Protection Aramayis Grigoryan paid a visit to the RA Aragacotn Region

RA Minister of Nature Protection Aramayis Grigoryan was on a working visit to Aragacotn Region. Minister had a meeting with Aragacotn Region Governor Sargis Sahakyan, heads of regional subdivisions, representatives of environmental and agricultural relevant regional subdivisions. A number of environmental problems existing in the region were discussed. Region Governor expressed his concerns over the quarries which after exploitation have not been recultivated and continue to pollute the environment. Mr. Aramayis Grigoryan reflected upon the Governor’s thoughts: “Our approaches have been defined in the sphere. The companies which have completed the exploitation or are in the final phase must accomplish their responsibilities according to the defined order. Referring to the deserted quarry, I should say, that with the RA Government support pilot projects of deserted quarry recultivation will be implemented, including your region. Meanwhile we have an agreement with the RA Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources to inform us and corresponding regional administration on the quarry terminating their activities before granting the certificate”. Mr. Yura Azatyan, Head of Agricultural and Environmental Department of Aragacotn Region raised awareness of the pollution issue of River Kasakh, which is the result of the absence of cleaning waste water stations and the waste water flowing into the river. Mr. Aramayis Grigoryan in his turn mentioned that river pollution causes serious environmental, agricultural, as well as health problems. Thus the problem is under the consideration of relevant divisions. The Minister also considered the violations occurring during construction in the region, as the works are done without expertise conclusion, which breaches the law. At the end of the visit Aramayis Grigoryan assigned the heads of the relevant subdivisions and emphasized that the aforementioned issues are under the constant consideration of the Ministry.
