The workshop titled "Energy Sector" was held

On November 23, within the framework of the UNDP-EU "For EU Climate" and "Building Armenia's National Transparency Framework under the Paris Agreement" (CBIT) UNDP-GEF programs, "The problems of climate change measurement, accountability and certification system under the Paris Agreement. The workshop entitled "Energy sector".
The purpose of the workshop was to present to the beneficiaries the road map for the implementation of the Measurement, Reporting and Certification (MRC) system of greenhouse gas emissions in Armenia, as well as the 2021-2030 plan for Armenia. To discuss the principles of the selection of mitigation policies and measures in the "Energy" sector, as the main emitting sector, within the framework of the assessment of the progress of the implementation of actions defined at the national level.
During the event, UNDP Climate Change Programs Coordinator Diana Harutyunyan and Chief Specialist of the Climate Policy Department of the RA Ministry of Environment Voskehat Isakhanyan made a speech of welcome, who emphasized the need for a stable measurement, accountability and certification system for assessing the country's progress towards the implementation of its commitments under the Paris Agreement, as well as in terms of implementing proper accountability and mainstreaming climate issues in the energy sector.
The development of renewable, alternative energy sources was also highlighted in terms of fulfilling Armenia's obligations and contributing to the energy self-sufficiency of the country.
The event was attended and participated online by the Ministries of the Environment and Territorial Management and Infrastructures, the "Environmental Impact Testing Center" of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the "Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center" of the MoE "Environmental Program Implementation Office" of the MoE, More than 30 representatives of the Statistical Committee, Public Services Regulatory Commission, NGOs and UNDP.
